I love Cypress trees! They have so much character and they are all so different with their knobby elbows and sexy limbs. This majestic cypress stood at the end of 8th Avenue above Carmel Beach, but now it is gone! I'm so sad about this as it was one of my favorite cypress trees. Heavy storms in 2022 made the tree unstable and they took it down - now it is a huge gnarly stump. While it stood tall, it took me a couple of plein air attempts in the warm early morning of June to get the structure of this tree and its highlights pulled together.
